A dog who stood trial in Saudi Arabia after biting a girl lost the case and was ordered expelled from the area despite denials that it was involved, a newspaper  reported on Saturday.

The judge in the central town of Madina sentenced the dog to expulsion from its neighborhood and ordered its owner to pay a fine of SR1,500 ($400) to the girl, ‘Alwatan’ said.

“Its owner admitted that he has many dogs but that all of them are well behaved and harmless,” the paper said.

“But medical examination proved that the dog bit the girl….hence the judge ordered its expulsion to prevent further harm in the future.”

‘Alwatan’ did not make clear where the dog would be sent or whether the owner would appeal the sentence.
