A rare condition that left a six-year old Chinese schoolgirl covered in black fur may now be curable.
As the picture of this girl went viral over theweekend, news reports emerged that specialists have finally offered her a treatment and hope.
The story is tragic because Liu Jiangli was reportedly abandoned by her parents because of this coating of thick black fur on her face and most of her body.
As an orphaned child she was then bullied.
Left at a nursery by her father, the toddler’s grand-uncle came forward to look after her.
He was quoted in news reports as saying that she has been unable to make friends because other children are frightened of her.
Some news sites reported Lui’s rare condition as similar to Hypertrichosis Universalis, a one-in-a-billion syndrome that completely covers sufferers’ bodies in thick hair.
